This article reported a survey on the part of speech used by autistic children aged 4 - 5
years old in comparison with normal children in order to provide appropriate language therapy for
autistic children. Autistic children’s usage of parts of speech depends on their cognitive ability and
environmental conditions during therapy. During language therapy for autistic children, teachers
and families should pay attention to their development of part of speech at an appropriate rate,
suitable to the ability and development of each child. Only then can they help autistic children to
have a rich vocabulary and gradually integrate with normal children of the same age.
