A. G. MILEIKOVSKY, M. Z. SHKUNDIN. The Socio-Political Crises of the 1960's in the Capitalist Countries
The article shows that the socio-political crises of the 1960's broke out in conditions of an economic boom, when, from the viewpoint of bourgeois ideologists, there were hardly any prerequisites of these phenomena. Mass protest strikes and other labour manifestations vividly demonstrated the existence of a deep crisis which had gripped the entire system of state- monopoly capitalism. The dire consequences left by the crises of the 1960's could not be overcome either by effecting bourgeois reforms "from above" or by widely resorting to repressive measures.
S. A. FEDYUKIN. Some Aspects of Research in the History of the Soviet Intelligentsia
The author makes an attempt to elucidate some of the insufficiently investigated and controversial questions pertaining to the history of the Soviet intelligentsia, which chiefly concern its formation, the motives that impelled bourgeois intellectuals to side with socialism, the level of professional training of new cadres. Analyzing the peculiarities attending the social structure of the intelligentsia in the 1920's and 1930's, the author puts forward a number of specific proposals aimed at raising the level of research in the history of the Soviet intelligentsia.
S. S. KHESIN. The Declining Influence of the Non-Proletarian Parties in the Navy in 1917
Drawing on a number of documentary materials, eyewitness accounts by direct participants in the events, press reports of the period under review and other data, the author illustrates the position and activity of the non-proletarian parties among the sailors serving in the Russian navy in the revolutionary year of 1917. The article makes a point of stressing the steadily declining influence exercised by the non-proletarian parties among the sailors, the Bolshevization of the navy in the course of the unfolding revolution, the political and organizational bankruptcy of the anti-Bolshevist forces, or, in other words, it analyzes one of the most important circumstances which brought the navymen into the ranks of the most dedicated fighters for the victory of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
A. J. AVREKH. Progressism and the Problem of Founding a Party of the "Real" Bourgeoisie
The article says that the opinion expressed in literature (which, incidentally, was formerly shared by the author) to the effect that at the inaugural congress in November 1912 the Progressists, who occupied an intermediate position between the Octobrists and the Constitutional Democrats, united (apart from the Duma faction) to form a separate party, does not correspond to reality. The second attempt to knock together such a national-liberal party, which was made in the years of the first world war, proved equally unsuccessful. The reason of the failure, the author believes, lies in the organizational friability and sparsity of the Progressists, the political infantilism of their bourgeois leaders, which, in turn, was a reflection and expression of the insufficient political maturity of the Russian bourgeoisie.
B. G. MOGHILNITSKY. The Contemporary Stage in the Crisis of Bourgeois Histoical Science
Examining the crisis of contemporary bourgeois historical thought, the author comes to the conclusion that its chief indication is the crisis of the theoretico-methodological principles of bourgeois historiography. A close analysis of the contemporary stage in the crisis of bourgeois historical thought enables one to single out the

prevailing tendencies in the development of bourgeois historical thought and elucidate more clearly such important theoretico-methodological problems as the interrelation of history and contemporaneity, the social functions of historical science, the place of history in the system of social sciences, etc. Particular attention is devoted in the article to West-German bourgeois historiography, whose crisis was manifesfed with exceptional force and acuteness.
